General Description : | Eyre 1841 and Vancouver 1791. Eyre was educated at Rugby School; commissioned as an ensign in 1823. He received company in the 73rd regiment in 1829. Ten years later he was a major. Captain George Vancouver RN (22 June 1757 – 10 May 1798) was an officer in the British Royal Navy, best known for his 1791-95 expedition, which explored and charted North America's northwestern Pacific Coast regions, including the coasts of contemporary Alaska, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon. He also explored the Hawaiian Islands and the southwest coast of Australia. |
