General Description A very rare (7-10 known examples) disapproved restrike produced in the third quarter of 1793 at Guenzburg mint..
Carl von Ernst (1896) quoting Vienna mint records states that following Tobias Schöbl’s death (25 April 1789) Faby had become Mint Master and the cashier, Franz Stehr, was promoted to Mint Warden {Fabys previous position}. When it became necessary to replace the MTT dies, without waiting for approval, the two officials set the letters of their names on the new dies so replacing the standard S.F with F.S. Vienna mint ordered all dies and coins produced from those dies destroyed
