Obv. Description	The centre of the coin shows a stylised human figure whose left arm is prolonged by the euro symbol. The initials ΓΣ of the sculptor appear below the euro symbol. République Française the issuing country appears at the top, while the indication 1999–2009 and the acronym UEM appear at the bottom. The twelve stars of the European Union surround the design on the outer ring of the coin.
Rev. Description	The design displays the denomination over a stylized map of the European Continent representing 15 nations, including twelve stars, showing the whole of Europe 'as a continent' without borders. The vertical ridges only appear over the 'sea'.
