Obv. Description Left facing portrait of President George Washington with the words United States of America circling the top and Quarter Dollar circling the bottom. Under his chin is the word Liberty and behind his head are the words In God We Trust. Below this is the D mint mark.
Rev. Description The Colorado quarter depicts a sweeping view of the state's rugged Rocky Mountains with evergreen trees and a banner carrying the inscription "Colorful Colorado." At the top the coin also bears the inscriptions "Colorado" and "1876". At the bottom is the issue date and "E Pluribus Unum".
