Five-pointed blackened bronze star with suspension bar with one five-pointed star and loop for ribbon suspension.
On original ribbon and ribbon suspension and top bars and ‘11 SEP 1973’ bronze bar.
The Decoration was created in the wake of the bloody coup of 11 September 1973 led by General Augusto Pinochet that overthrew President Salvador Allende. It was awarded in three grades, with one, two and three stars on the suspension bar and vertical stripes on the ribbon, for other ranks, officers and senior officers respectively and with different coloured ribbons for each arm of the military - red for the Army, light blue for the Air Force, dark blue for the Navy and green for the Carabineros (para-military police).
