| General Description | The medal was instituted in 1971 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Romanian Communist Party. The Party was founded in 1921 but had little influence and fewer members until the arrival of the Soviet Red Army in Romania in 1944. The Party was disbanded in 1989. |
