General Description : The medal was instituted on 8 April 1880 to be awarded for long and meritorious service by military and civilians, both Romanians and others. The ‘war’ variant for military, as in this example, was introduced in 1938 and awarded until 1947 for military services to both Romanians and members of the Axis forces.
