| General Description : | Statue of Edward Anseele on the Frankrijkplein in Ghent. Edward Anseele (born in the Penitentenstraat 6-12 in the centre of Ghent, 26 July 1856 - Ghent, 8 February 1938) was a Belgian socialist politician. Although his parents rather belonged to the lower middle class (his father was a shoemaker), Edward Anseele became active the early socialist movement.
