2¢ King George V 1930

2¢ King George V 1930
Added by Alain Martineau
General Description : Portrait engraved by Carl Theodore Arlt
Based on a photograph by Lafayette Portrait Studios
Changes in the International postal rates, effective 1930, required colour revisions of the 1-cent, 2-cent, 5-cent and 8-cent denominations. From 1st April, 1930, the contract for the manufacture of Canadian postage stamps and postal stationery was awarded to the British North American Bank Note Company, Limited, Ottawa. This is an old- established firm which had not manufactured Canadian postage stamps since March, 1897. This change of contract necessitated the issue of completely new, regular series of stamps with the identical portraits of King George V on all the lower denominations. Portrait of His Majesty King George V by Carl Arlt.
