6,5 Kuna Admission of Croatia in the UN 1997
Added by Alain Martineau
General Description : Serie: 239, Type: P, Stamps in serie: 1

The motif is a portrait of Franjo Tuđman, President of the Republic of Croatia, taken during his inaugural speech in the UN, the OUN coat-of-arms and the Croatian tricoloured flag. The stamp is issued in a joint double sheets containing 10 stamps with two vignettes on the 5th and 8th field. Croatian Post and Telecommunications sells the commemorative First Day Cover FDC, First Day Sheet and the commemorative album. It will be five years now that the Republic of Croatia was admitted into the Organization of the United Nations. Within the organization of autonomous states of the contemporary world the Republic of Croatia is the youngest, most recent member, but at the same time a very responsible state, that has already proved that it is able to adjust and adapt its national interest with the aspirations of all democratic countries. Entering, thus, the Organization of the United Nations five years ago, Croatia entered into a world that it had, in principle, helped create itself, the world that propagates its own political ideals.
