| General Description : | Serie: 108, Type: P, Stamps in serie: 3 Motif: Krešimir Baranović Krešimir Baranović (b. in Šibenik, 25 July, 1894 - d. Belgrade, 17 September 1975) was one of the most outstanding Croatian composers of the 20th century. He acquired a very profound and extensive musical education in Zagreb, Vienna and Berlin. His major works, the ballet Licitarsko srce (Gingerbread Heart, 1924) and the songs for baritone and orchestra Z mojih bregov (From my Highlands, 1927), composed during Baranović's pre-war Zagreb period have a distinct, individual orchestral sound. Baranović's musical expression is greatly owned to the inspiration he found in the traditional folk music from Hrvatsko zagorje. |
