General Description The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II first appeared on Canadian coins in 1953 when she was 27 years old.
Also to note the effigy of the queen is now facing right and not left as always in the past.
Obv. Description Elizabeth II (1953-1964)
Surrounded by the Latin inscription ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The inscription means "Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, the Queen."
